Pinewood student gives to Soles4Souls

  • Monday, January 14, 2013

Pinewood Senior Shauna Fletcher, flanked by teacher Dan Stone, left, and student Spencer Sizemore, right, launched a shoe drive for Soles4Souls at the school which collected over 350 pairs of shoes to be donated to individuals in need this holiday season.

During this season of giving, there is an emphasis placed on giving new gifts to friends and family. Yet, Pinewood senior, Shauna Fletcher, decided giving to those who do not have was her personal goal this year. Fletcher launched her second ‘Soles4Souls’ campaign in October, and with the help of her colleagues at Pinewood Prep, was able to collect over 350 pairs of shoes to be distributed to those in need this season.
The shoes will be donated to Soles4Souls, an international charity that collects new shoes to give relief to the victims of abject suffering and collects used shoes to support micro-business efforts to eradicate poverty.
Fletcher presented her collection to Soles4Souls Thursday. For information about Soles4Souls, visit www.soles4souls.org.
Pinewood Preparatory School is located at 1114 Orangeburg Drive in Summerville.
