Things started out well enough for the Summerville Hockey Club Dec. 21 but down the stretch Greenville South proved to be too much for the Green Wave.
Nick Wieszkowiak scored with an assist from Lee Winter inside the first two minutes of the game. Then the G-Force scored three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead into the second period.
Summerville created scoring opportunities and got off some nice shots in the second frame, but the Greenville South defense was tight around the goal and the G-Force added two more scores in the period.
Summerville did find the net in the final minute of the period with a hard shot by Winter from the left side of the goal. Jonathan Dashnaw had an assist on the play, which cut the G-Force lead to 5-2 entering the final period.
In the final 15 minutes, Greenville South ran away with the contest to finish with a 10-2 victory. The G-Force improved to 5-2-1 on the season with the win. Summerville fell to 1-8 with the loss.
Summerville has a bye this week but will return to the ice Jan. 11 to face Lexington. The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the Carolina Ice Palace.
