Summerville’s Adam Blocker recorded a major decision victory against region rival Beaufort in the semifinals.

The Green Wave wrestling team brought home the Cane Bay Duals championship Saturday.
Nearly 20 varsity teams competed in the fourth annual tournament held at Cane Bay High School. Summerville went 5-0 in the tournament and claimed the championship with a 42-30 win over Hanahan in the finals.
The Wave advanced to the finals by defeating Carolina Forest 56-12, Bamberg 51-29, Wando 56-16 and Beaufort 43-30.
“I think we wrestled well and I am pleased to have won with the quality of schools that were represented at the Cane Bay Duals,” Summerville coach Darryl Tucker said. “It was a good measuring stick but it’s still early in the season. There are a lot of lineups that will look differently in January and February.”
Summerville’s Dylan Wyman, Tyler Fachko, Gavin Perkins, Daniel Smith, Chad Wood, Kyle Sullivan and Trey Privette were all undefeated during the tournament.
Beaufort defeated Stratford in the third-place match. Cane Bay finished in fifth place in the tournament after winning a tiebreaker with Wando on the most first takedowns criteria.
Summerville, Beaufort, Stratford, Wando and Cane Bay are all ranked among the state’s Top 20 Class AAAA teams. Hanahan entered the season ranked second among the state’s Class AAA teams.
