Green Wave sweeps Eagles on the road

The Green Wave basketball teams swept Beaufort Friday on the Eagles' home court.
The Summerville boys earned a 58-53 win over the Eagles to improve to 12-4 on the season with a 2-0 mark in Region 8-AAAA. Beaufort fell to 9-5 with an 0-2 mark in the region.
The Eagles jumped ahead early, outscoring the Wave 13-5 in the first period and carrying a 27-23 advantage into the half. But Summerville exploded the next period. The Wave outscored Beaufort 19-12 in the third period and 16-14 in the fourth.
John Jenkins paced Summerville with 25 points while Brandon Wilkerson added 14 for the Wave. Summerville also received baskets from Tim Singleton, Chris McKinnon, Christian Kalacanic and Xavier Robinson.
Kendrick Colvin led Beaufort with 16 points.
The Summerville girls earned a 49-24 win over Beaufort to improve to 11-5 with a 2-0 region record. Beaufort fell to 1-13 with an 0-2 mark in region play.
The Lady Eagles took a three-point lead in the opening period, but were then outscored by Summerville 17-4 in the second and 15-4 in the third.
Kwanza Murray led all scorers with 17 points while both Zuri Green and Heather Chapman added 11 points. Tinara Brown, Chelsi Anderson and Gabrielle Stewart also provided buckets for the Lady Wave.
Jordan Fields led Beaufort with 11 points.
The Summerville teams travel to Ashley Ridge Friday for key region match-ups.
