The Charleston Area Men’s Interclub Golf Association began its new year with a trophy presentation Jan. 7.
Interclub President Steve Windich and Tournament Chairman Ken Ward present the 2012 Championship trophy to members of the Stono Ferry team. Then the 2013 teams opened their season with a match at Stono.
On a sunny but windy and cool winter’s day, the course was perhaps the true winner as the teams had some of the highest scores in recent memory. When all was said and done, Stono took a first step toward potentially defending its title, placing first with a negative 2 score.
Rivertowne came in at negative 3 to claim runner-up honors and Shadowmoss finished at negative 22 to place third. Trailing were Dunes West and Pine Forest (-23), Charleston National (-25), Coosaw Creek (-29), Miler and Wescott (-31), Charleston Municipal (-45), Berkeley –(53), Legend Oaks (-62) and Crowfield (-71).
Individual honors went to Gunnar Jannson of Charleston National, who came in with a plus 9 score. Stan Petrohovich of Wescott and Steve Radin of Stono Ferry both finished at plus 7 to tie for second place. Full results can be found on chsinterclub.org.
