Players Present 'Forever Plaid'
The hilariously charming hit musical Forever Plaid will take you on a trip to the fifties with Sparky, Jinx, Smudge and Frankie, a fictional 1950's boy band. Tragically and inconveniently struck down before their first big gig, “The Plaids” will be brought back to earth to take the stage one last time. Forever Plaid will run from Jan. 31 to Feb. 10. There will be a special “prom night” theme in the lobby Friday, Feb. 1. Don't forget to attend the reception after that performance at the Ice House restaurant to meet the cast.
“'Forever Plaid' is a musical for all ages to enjoy and experience together,” remarked Flowertown Players Board President David Tripp. "For many people the music will evoke fond memories of the 1950's and for others it will be like discovering this musical genre for the very first time. And who better to present this celebration of the 1950's than director Emma Scott.”
This critically acclaimed musical celebrating the precision harmonies that were the epitome of 1950's traditional values, home and harmony, the uproariously entertaining Forever Plaid is perfect for the entire family. Filled with the nostalgic sounds of the 1950's, the musical incorporates beautifully composed close four-part harmony. This powerful show signifies a simpler time, when parents and children were listening to the same music. “Forever Plaid” is about four ordinary guys who have the opportunity to go back and have a second chance. As an audience member, you can't help but think 'what would I do if I could go back, if I could have another chance?'”
The multi-talented cast of Forever Plaid will feature Jonah Klixbull as Sparky, John Black as Jinx, Robert Culbreth as Francis, Christopher Williams as Smudge and David Whittington as the narrator.
In addition to Director, Choreographer, and Costumer Emma Scott, the creative team includes Richard Davis (Musical Director), Kendra McCarthy (Lighting Designer), Robert Venne (Set Design), Jason Olson (Sound Designer), Adrian Henthorne (Prop Master), and Claire Parascandolo (Stage Manager).
Tickets are priced at $25. Senior, student, and military discounts are available. Forever Plaid will run evening performances January 31 – February 2, and February 7—9 at 8:00 p.m. and matinee performances February 2, 3, 9 and 10 at 2:00 p.m. For tickets call 843-875-9251 or visit www.flowertownplayers.org.
