Sports Briefs for Jan. 30
Summerville High School will host first and second round matches for the state wrestling duals playoffs on Saturday with wrestling beginning at 1 p.m. The first round will feature a match between Summerville and Sumter and a match between Dutch Fork and Irmo. The winners from the first round will face each other in the second round.
Young Guns Tennis
Pinewood Prep has opened registration for its Young Guns Tennis League for players age 6-13. The next session will run from Feb. 4 until March 10 with matches being held on Sunday afternoons at the school’s tennis courts. Players will be assigned to a team based on age and play against players of similar age/ability. Total cost for the program is $65 for the six week session and includes a team shirt. Siblings will be put on the same team and have a cost reduction. Trophies will be awarded to the first-place team in each age group.

AR oyster roast
The Touchdown Club of Ashley Ridge will host an Oyster Roast and Chili Cook-off from 6-10 p.m. Feb. 16 at Country Club of Summerville (Miler). Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Contact any coach, player or touchdown club member for tickets. The Touchdown Club of Ashley Ridge is a non-profit organization to benefit all football programs of Ashley Ridge. Summerville Country Club's sixth annual Powerball Golf Tournament is scheduled for Feb. 3, with a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. The event will include an oyster roast/hot dogs and chili with a cash bar following play. The four-man captain’s choice tournament, with a twist, is open to all golfers. Registration is $50 and includes cart, oysters, and draft beer following play. Call 873-2210, extension 1 to sign up. Single and team registration is available.
Tidal Wave tryouts

Athletic Hall of Fame
Nominations for the Summerville High School Athletic Hall of Fame are being accepted until March 1. Athletes who attended SHS or Alston High School are eligible for the honor. Nomination forms may be picked up and returned at the SHS Athletic Office or at Summerville (George Miler) Country Club.
Parks Field registration
Parks Field spring baseball registration for ages 4-19 will be held Feb. 2 from 9 a.m. until noon at Parks Field in the concession stand.
