Simpson celebrates 100th birthday

Mr. Graffie Thomas Simpson, or “Tom,” will join family and friends for a celebration of his 100th birthday at The Palms of Mt. Pleasant on Saturday, February 16.
The party will be held in the bar and lounge area. Residents of the full service retirement community will also have the opportunity to join in on the celebration.
In 2012 the United Nations estimated only 316,000 centenarian were living worldwide. Mr. Simpson survives his wife of 65 years, Lillian Royster Simpson, with whom they had a daughter, Linda Brewton, of Charleston, and son, Dennis Simpson of Summerville. He has two granddaughters, one great granddaughter, and one great grandson.
Born February 16, 1913 in Eastonollee, Georgia, his parents, John and Emma Simpson, were farmers and eventually moved their three sons and three daughters to Greenville, SC. Mr. Simpson eventually went on to work in construction during WWII helping to build army bases in three states. He was also a member of Judson Masonic Lodge 319 in Greenville, SC.
The celebration will begin at 3 p.m. and any well wishes or cards are welcome to be mailed to The Palms of Mt. Pleasant, 937 Bowman Rd, Mt. Pleasant, SC, 29464.
