Healthy Teeth and Gums

Summerville Catholic School kindergarten students explored the importance of healthy teeth and gums during National Children’s Dental Health Month. Students did a science experiment comparing an eggshell soaked in cola overnight to the enamel on their teeth. After brushing the darkened shell with toothpaste, students could make the connection between eating healthy and having healthy teeth. Students also enjoyed creating teeth from apples, peanut butter and marshmallows. The highlight of the day was a visit from Summerville Pediatric Dentistry who came to pass out colorful toothbrushes and share tips on brushing teeth.
