Town accepting applications
The Town of Summerville is accepting applications for funding from state accommodations tax funds for 2013. In order to be considered, the completed application must be received by the Clerk/Treasurer of the Town by May 31, 2013. An application may be obtained from the website at www.summerville.sc.us or by calling Bonnie Van Etten at 871-6000.
HIE to host bridal show
Holiday Inn Express-Summerville will host a Spring Bridal and Event Expo on Saturday March 30 from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event is free. There will be prizes and delicious fare from local caterers and bakers. If you are planning a wedding in the near future, this is a must attend event. Cottageville Community Yard Sale
The Town of Cottageville is having a community yard sale on Saturday, March 30 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. This is open to the public and the public can rent a table for $10.00. The event was rescheduled from last Saturday because of rain.

“Fishing Tales from the Old Timers
Wednesday, April 10 • 6:30 pm
Summerville Saltwater Anglers presents four of Charleston’s legendary fishermen – Ralph Phillips, Mike Able Sr., Sandy Stuhr, and OC Polk – will share fishing stories and anecdotes from over 160 years of fishing experience. The seminar will be held at McElveen Truckville (I26 & 17A). The storytelling event is free and open to the public.
Summerville Community Orchestra's Adventures in Music
Summerville Community Orchestra (SCO), Alexander Agrest, Music Director, announces the third concert of the 2012-2013 series, Adventures in Music.
Performances are Thursday, April 4, at Northwood Baptist Church, 2200 Greenridge Road, North Charleston, and Friday, April 5, at Summerville Baptist Church, 418 Central Avenue. Pre-concert talks begin at 6:30 PM and the concerts start at 7:30 PM.
The program includes Tchaikowsky's Children's Album, Lord of the Dance, Chronicles of Narnia, Light Cavalry Overture, Entrance of the Gladiators, and an Instrument Petting Zoo immediately following the concert.
Single tickets are $10 per concert and free for those under 18 and in wheelchairs. Tickets are available on the SCO website www.summervilleorchestra.com, by phone at (843) 873-5339, and at the door.
Tickets available to Shine, Shimmer and Shag Benefiting Abused Children
Seacoast Church and South Carolina Federal Credit Union are "Boardwalk" Sponsors for "Shine, Shimmer and Shag" Lowcountry Orphan Relief's (LOR's) inaugural fundraiser taking place Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 7 pm to 11 pm at Memminger Auditorium (56
Beaufain St.,Charleston, SC).
Tickets are available for purchase at $75 per person. The event benefits children who have been abused, abandoned and neglected throughout the tri-county area.
The evening includes: dancing to the original versions of your favorite beach music (DJ SaturDave of Crescendo Entertainment) complimentary shag lessons (Beach Music and Shag Preservation Society of S.C. & Arthur Murray Dance Studios), a shag contest, heavy appetizers, wine, beer and soft drinks. Maniscalco (www.maniscalcogallery.com) is donating a custom portrait and a performance painting (painted during the event) for purchase. Attendees can also make donations to LOR by purchasing requested sets of music, sponsoring backpacks for children or sponsoring a child's needs for a week.

Oil Painting- Old master method – Instructor Susannah Roth. You can learn to draw as you paint and you will be taught how to see shapes and depth of shadows to form your picture into a painting. Cost is $12 per class to be paid at the front desk before each class. Tuesdays 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
