Police were called to a local retail center because a woman was suspected of shoplifting.
Management advised police that the woman was acting suspicious.
Police met with her and noticed she many CD’s in her cart. She said she was not doing anything wrong and was simply just doing some shopping.
But when officers ran her name it came back as a wanted person out of Mount Pleasant.
In fact, she was wanted for shoplifting.
She was arrested to be taken on that warrant. a female officer was called in to do a thorough body search, but in the meantime, officers on the scene found several items tucked in her pants and undergarments.
She admitted that they were stolen items, according to the report.
As the officer prepared the paperwork on the hood of his vehicle, the woman grabbed her purse and took off running through the parking lot. But the officer caught her from behind She was place don the hood of the patrol car and she started kicking and screaming. She also refused to get in the patrol car.
She had to be placed in leg irons to get her safely in the car.
A strip search at the jail revealed more merchandise that she had stolen to include crayons, two pairs of pants, a box of playing cards and a clear baggie with white substance stuffed in her mouth.
The report said she admitted it was cocaine and admitted to using some three hours before her arrest.
