My thanks to Leslie Cantu for her article “ More Money for Mayor Likely.”
I appreciate the dedicated work Mayor Bill Collins has put forth on our town’s behalf but feel it would be degrading of the platform he ran on to get elected if he excepted this pay raise.
He touched my heart with his generous offer of a FULL TIME MAYOR ON PART TIME PAY, as he wanted to give back to the town, he so very much loved, now that he was retired. I know he must be embarrassed by this attention, smelling 30 pieces of silver, council is offering (also known as BAIT and SWITCH).
I am asking our council members to reconsider this ordinance out of respect to the voters and candidates Bill Collins ran against in 2011. The $72.000 additional debt to the town and the unblemished fine reputation Mayor Collins has earned through his hard work is not worth the negative implications to his legacy as our mayor.
Dec,31.2015 is only 19 months away, at that time the voters can decide the Who, What, When and Why’s of our local form of government and not just six council members in executive session ...that just doesn’t pass the smell test to me!
Then again it just might be the pollen, ’ya think ?
Thanks Judy, for letting me give my 2 cents.
