The Ashley Ridge bats cranked up just in time for the Class AAAA softball playoffs.
The Swamp Foxes opened the playoffs last week by earning an 11-1 win over West Ashley. Ashley Ridge tallied 13 hits in six innings before the game was called due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Junior catcher Aubrey Rabun was 3 for 3 at the plate with a pair of three-run homeruns. Freshman Emily Hutt was 3 for 4 and scored two runs. Eighth-grader Valerie Frank was 2 for 4 with four runs scored and sophomore Kendall Zeski was 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Zeski also had the pitching win. She stakeout two batters while scattering nine hits over five innings.
On Saturday the Swamp Foxes continued to have luck at the plate, but fell 10-7 to White Knoll in the second round. Sara Butler, Sierra Robinette, Nicki Young and Anika Ponton all had two hits each in the game.
Zeski suffered the loss in the circle.
The Swamp Foxes were scheduled to face West Ashley in a third-round rematch Tuesday after press time. The winner of that game will advance to face White Knoll in the District V championship series slated to begin Wednesday at White Knoll.
