Summerville Walking Tours
The Summerville Dorchester Museum is offering two guided walking tours of Summerville (one of old planter Summerville and the other of West End and its railroad history). Walks cover about a mile and take about an hour.  They are available daily by appointment.  For further information call 875-9666 or visit www.summervilledorchestermuseum.org.
 
The First Thursday Readers

The First Thursday Readers meet to discuss “Home Front” by Kristin Hannah. We will also discuss new books being published. The public is welcome to attend.

The Friends of the Summerville Library will hold a Gigantic Book Sale. Hours vary by day as shown above. Gently used books, CDs, DVDs, VHS tapes and audio books will be for sale at very reasonable prices.

Recital by 2013 Music Club Scholarship Winners
Saturday, May 11•3:30 p.m.
The Summerville Music Club will debut the 2013 Music Club Scholarship Winners in a recital. This year $2,200 in scholarships were awarded to five of the eleven talented applicants who auditioned. The recipients who will perform are: Walter Hagan and Julia Whitten, piano students of Dr. Myungsook Stoudenmire; Brianna Jaeger, piano student of Olivia Cresswell; Kyle Johnson, piano student of Jacqueline Jones; and Karina Sieber, violin student of Melinda Covington. A reception will follow the program. The program is free; donations to the scholarship fund will be accepted. Tickets  are available at the door at 3:30.

It’s a Mystery to Me Book Club

It’s a Mystery to Me Book Club meets to discuss “Hotwire” by Alex Kava. Upcoming publishing events will also be reviewed. Sponsored by the Friends of the Summerville Library. Summerville Community Orchestra Performs “Mozart and Movies”
Thursday, May 16 • 7:30 p.m.
Friday, May 17 • 7:30 p.m.
The Summerville Community Orchestra will perform a concert of movie classical music by Mozart. Tickets are $10 each (free for under 18 and wheelchair-bound).
Pre-concert music discussion starts at 6:30. An Instrument Petting Zoo for children will be held after the performance at both locations.

The Third Sunday at Three Series
Sunday, May 19 • 4 p.m.
The Third Sunday at Three Series presents "Behold: Her Story of Easter" performed by The Magdalene Ensemble, a quartet of women from Massachusetts, New York, and North Carolina. BEHOLD is a musical drama that portrays the events of Easter as witnessed through the eyes and words of the women who were there. A dessert reception will follow this season finale, in celebration of Mother's Day. Admission is free, however $15 donations are gratefully accepted. Full time students 6 to 22 are $5.

Talking About Books at the Timrod
