Shriner’s Fishing Rodeo is a big hit

The Dorchester Shrine Club treated kids to a morning of fishing April 27.
A large crowd of youth age 17 and younger attended the club’s fifth annual Kids Fishing Rodeo held at the Dorchester Shrine Club lake. After a morning of fishing kids brought in their catch to be weighed and prizes were awarded in several categories including Most Fish, Biggest Fish and Youngest Fisherman.
Then the youth were treated to lunch compliments of the club.
The fishing rodeo is open to the public and is just one of several events the club sponsors annually. The club’s primary mission is supporting Shriner’s International, which sponsors 22 hospitals across the U.S., Canada and Mexico that provide advanced care for children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate. The Dorchester Shrine Club has approximately 230 members dedicated to helping the Shriner’s health care system.
