Swamp Fox, Green Wave and Fort Dorchester golf teams advance

Dorchester Two will be well represented at the Class AAAA boys’ golf tournament next week.
Ashley Ridge finished runner-up at the Class AAAA Lower State Golf Tournament held Monday at Sunset Country Club in Sumter. The Swamp Foxes finished with a team total of 292, only four strokes behind Lower State Champion South Aiken. Austin Zoller fired a 68 for the Swamp Foxes to finish second in the overall individual standings. Freshman Zak Butt shot a 71 and finished in the Top 5 individually as well. Ben Crimminger (76) and Aaron Schmitt (77) rounded out the team’s solid play.
Summerville finished in a tie for fifth place with a 315 team total. Christian Woods, Sam Myers and Dylan Bunch all had rounds in the 70’s to help the Green Wave also qualify for the state tournament.
Fort Dorchester finished with a team total of 316. The Patriots made it into the state tournament by way of playoff, finishing in seventh place. RJ Keur led the way for the Fort by shooting a round in the low 70s and Deej Elder also came in with a round in the 70s.
Other teams advancing from the Lower State are South Aiken (288), Wando (306), Lexington (312), West Florence (315) and Sumter (316). The state tournament is a 54-hole event and will take place next Monday and Tuesday at Furman Golf Club.
