School district forms non-profit

Dorchester District Two Board of Trustees unanimously voted to form a 501 (c) 3 non-profit Monday, in order to take advantage of funding opportunities – both corporate and grant-based – that are only available to non-profits.
The non-profit will be called the Dorchester Two Educational Foundation and commonly referred to as the “Corporation.”
Volunteers from the community will form its governing board and include Bo Blanton, Harry Blake, James Slemp, Hank Bennett, Shannon Raglin, Chris Zoeller, James Lopez, Brian Mitchum, Linda Huffman and Phyllis Ledbetter.
The Corporation will be a South Carolina nonprofit public benefit corporation.
