A Tribute To Gospel Music is the theme for the concert and will focus on the lives and music of such gospel greats as Thomas Dorsey, known as the Father of Gospel Music, as well as The Caravans, Mahalia Jackson, Rev. James Cleveland, Andrae Crouch, and Walter Hawkins. To complete this high-spirited, uplifting presentation will be a segment from the great Dr. Mattie Moss Clark and the Clark Sisters.
“This is the concert that I have dreamed of presenting for a number of years, but always had to put it aside to do other things,” says Director Nate Nelson.  Nelson continues, “I am extremely happy and honored to finally have the opportunity to present this montage of great sacred music that has become the foundation for so many aspects of the African American experience.”  Sandra Barnhardt, Asst. Director states, “There is an awesome history that surrounds the many great gospel artists, groups, and choirs over the years. One concert cannot possibly cover it all. So folks will have to attend this concert and then the one after that, and the one after that!”
