Watch out Walmart
Walmart was the target of shoplifters three times in two days. On May 12 a white male was observed putting numerous items in his cart in the hardware department. The man then pushed the shopping cart right past all points of purchase and exited the store. The store’s loss prevention specialist stopped the man in the parking lot and escorted him to the loss prevention office.† The man stated, “I know I messed up.”
The following day, a man was observed putting two sleeping bags, Nicorette gum and two sports bras in a cart, which he then pushed right out of the store without paying for the items and proceeded to a car that a white female was driving. Both were escorted to the loss prevention office and served a Notice of Trespass.
Three hours later, two females selected several items and placed them in their purses, then proceeded to walk out of the store. They were escorted to the loss prevention office. One female had taken a phone charger and the other root killer. Both were placed on trespass notice.
Not so easy
Also on May 13, a white female was observed entering Kohls, “quickly” selecting five pairs of earrings, and entering the dressing room.† The female then exited the dressing room, walked to the earring display, selected a single pair, proceeded to purchase them and exited the store. She was intercepted outside the store where five pairs of earrings were recovered from her purse.
When asked how many times she has shoplifted, she responded “two or three.” When asked why, the 18-year-old told authorities “people at her school [Ashley Ridge High School] have talked about how easy it is and how you wouldn’t go to jail if you lived in Summerville.”
The female was placed on trespass notice and, according to the store representative, will be prosecuted.
