Bennett enlists
 
Arthur C. Bennett, son of Anne and Cedric A. Bennett of Goose Creek, recently enlisted in the United States Navy under the Delayed Entry Program.
The program allows recruits to enter the Navy and take up to one year to complete prior commitments such as high school. Using recruiters as mentors, this program helps recruits ease into the transition from civilian to military life.
Bennett will report for active duty to undergo basic training at the Navy's Recruit Training Center in Great Lakes, Ill.
Bennett is a 2010 graduate of Goose Creek High School.
 
Burgohy enlists
 
Angelita M. Burgohy, daughter of Shirley Y. and Gerardo A. Burgohy of Goose Creek, recently enlisted in the United States Navy under the Delayed Entry Program.

Colden joins Navy
 
Andre E. Colden, son of Valerie Jones of Goose Creek, and Jerome Colden, of Goose Creek, recently enlisted in the United States Navy under the Delayed Entry Program.
The program allows recruits to enter the Navy and take up to one year to complete prior commitments such as high school. Using recruiters as mentors, this program helps recruits ease into the transition from civilian to military life.
Colden will report for active duty to undergo basic training at the Navy's Recruit Training Center at Great Lakes, Ill.
Colden is a 2008 graduate of Stratford High School.
 
Franklin graduates
 
Air Force Reserve Airman Allyson M. Franklin has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, in San Antonio, TX.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Franklin is the daughter of Ingrid Franklin of Summerville. She is a 2011 graduate of Stratford High School.
 
Grant graduates
 
Army Pfc. Denzell D. Grant has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
Grant is the son of Christina White of Goose Creek. He is a 2012 graduate of Goose Creek High School.
 
Schneider graduates
 
Air Force Airman Joseph R. Schneider graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, TX.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Schneider is the son of Irven and Mary Schneider of Hanahan. He is a 2012 graduate of Hanahan High School.
 
Thurston becomes Marine
 
Marine Corps Pfc. Benjamin K. Thurston, a 2011 graduate of Stratford High School, earned the title of United States Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot on Parris Island.
For 13 weeks, Thurston stayed committed during some of the world's most demanding entry-level military training in order to be transformed from civilian to Marine instilled with pride, discipline and the core values of honor, courage and commitment.
 
Wright completes training
 
Navy Seaman Lafreya S. Skipper Wright, daughter of Eliza S. Connor of Ladson, and Fred Skipper of North Charleston, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command at Great Lakes, Ill.
During the eight-week program, Skipper Wright completed a variety of training, which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.
