A body was found floating in the Charleston Harbor near the jetties across from Sullivan’s Island Friday morning, a news release from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
Detectives are continuing their investigation, and the identity of the deceased and reason for death are unknown at this time. The Charleston County Coroner’s Office is assisting.
At 6:23 a.m., a boater called 911 to report the body. Sullivan’s Island Rescue, Isle of Palms Rescue, Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol and the United States Coast Guard responded to the scene and recovered the body “shortly after 7 a.m.,” the release noted.
