Happy Father’s Day Daddy dearest…
On June 18 Summerville Police responded to Germantown Field in response to a male and female arguing. On arrival, they noted a white Toyota Corolla parked in the bushes. When the driver saw police he attempted to drive away but was stuck in the mud.
Police instructed the driver multiple times to exit the vehicle but the driver and the female continued to argue.
Attempting to calm the situation, one officer took the female a distance away and asked her what had happened. She told the officer, in an “excited utterance,” that her father had taken her cell phone, stabbed her in the leg with scissors and bit her on her shoulder.
She refused medical attention and did not wish to file a report.
While the juvenile female was speaking with the officer, the driver continued to be loud and punch the vehicle several times.
According to the father, his daughter jumped on the hood of the car, and refused to get off even though he had driven with her there across the road and into the bushes.
According to a witness, the daughter was standing in the open door of the car as it went across the road.
After hearing the juvenile daughter’s story, and seeing evidence of her injuries, police attempted to place the father under arrest for 2nd degree Assault and Battery. However, the man resisted, resulting in the need for taser use in order to subdue the man. He was also charged with resisting arrest.
The father told police he was upset because his daughter had gone to get something to eat without his express permission. The daughter’s mother is deceased and her father is her sole guardian. Police notified social services and released the daughter to the custody of a social worker who sought medical attention for the young woman. Ultimately, she was treated and released but received three stitches to the scissor wounds.
