Charleston - Betty Attaway Myers, 88, widow of Retired Chief Warrant Officer Charles Robert Myers died on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at Heartland West Ashley Rehabilitation and Nursing Home. The funeral will be Sunday, June 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home. The visitation will be Saturday, June 29, 2013 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Myers was born in North Charleston, January 5, 1925, a daughter of the late H. Harrison Attaway and Mamie Pledger Attaway. Her father was the first chairman of the North Charleston Public Service Commission and this was the primary governing body when the area was incorporated. She graduated from North Charleston High School. She also attended Winthrop University. She was a member of the North Charleston United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Myers Richmond; son-in-law, Michael Holman Richmond; granddaughter, Katherine Elizabeth Richmond; grandson, David Michael Richmond, wife Nicole Feagin Richmond and one sister, Mrs. Eleanor Attaway Fuller. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Carl E. Attaway, Lt. Col. Hubert H. Attaway, and one sister, Mrs. Earl “Janie” Knight.
Memorials may be made to the North Charleston United Methodist Church, 1125 East Montague Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29405.
