On June 11, 2013, Isle of Palms Mayor Dick Cronin received the Barrett Lawrimore Tourism Award for Leadership presented annually by the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. Acknowledging the work of long-time, late County Council Chair Barrett Lawrimore, the award is given to an elected official leading the region in tourism initiatives. Mayor Cronin was selected for his work with the South Carolina Department of Revenue on the reconciliation and reporting of Accommodations Tax. On hand for the award ceremony were (from left) last year’s winner Lt. Gov. Glenn McConnell, CVB chair and managing director of Wild Dunes Frank Fredericks, Mayor Dick Cronin and Marilyn Lawrimore, widow of Barrett Lawrimore. PHOTO PROVIDED BY ROBBIN KNIGHT
