Trident employee clinic opens

Trident Health celebrated the opening of its new employee health clinic, H2U Wellness Center, with Biggest Loser runner-up Hannah Curlee on Monday.
Curlee worked for HCA, parent company of Trident Health, when she appeared on the show and now works for another subsidiary, H2U, which operates employee clinics.
Trident's clinic, located across the street from Trident Medical Center, will serve employees of Trident Health and their dependents.
The health system has about 2,800 employees, said Pamela Brock, vice president of marketing.
The clinic can be used for colds, flus, sinus infections, sprains or strains or even for Pap smears, she said – basically anything a patient would see a family practice doctor for.
Trident decided to open a clinic because health care workers tend to be among the worst for seeking out medical care, she said, and Trident was seeing high usage of its emergency room for minor complaints.
It started to look into what other major employers in the area offer and developed the idea for the clinic, which will also include a significant wellness component, Brock said.
She said Trident hopes the clinic will be successful and encourage other employers to offer similar facilities.
