Foster parents needed

  • Thursday, July 11, 2013

During the spring and fall, the Summerville SPCA takes in hundreds of kittens and puppies, most of them that are too young to be away from their mothers and are too small to stay in the shelter.
The Short Term Foster Program was created in 2010 to save these little lives and many other animals that need special attention during medical treatment.
Since then, roughly 500 unweaned puppies and kittens have been saved.
The Frances R. Willis SPCA foster program needs foster parents.

What the SPCA does:
>Most animals are fostered for a duration between 2-6weeks
>The SPCA provides necessary medications, vaccines and dewormers
>Once they are healthy and old enough, they will be altered and placed on the adoption floor
>Foster parents are given first consideration in adopting, if they happen to fall in love

What the foster parents does:
>Make sure personal pets are up to date on vaccines, preventions and they are spayed or neutered
>Be sure there is an area to keep foster animal(s) completely separated from personal pets (such as a spare bedroom, laundry room, etc)
>If renting, please be sure the landlord doesn’t mind fostering and bring a signed statement
>Fill out an application
Please email Ashley at ashleyfrwspca@hotmail.com, or stop by the shelter to pick up an application.
