Avery, Jean Robinson

  • Tuesday, July 16, 2013

Jean Robinson Avery, 85, passed away on July 11, 2013 in Charlotte, NC. She is remembered as a smart, charming, and elegant southern Lady and her bright smile and deep love and care for others will be profoundly missed.
She was born in Chapin, SC and, after her family and faith, always treasured her warm memories of friends in Chapin, Columbia, and Summerville more than anything. She also never lost her love of the legal field, in which she was sole breadwinner for her family for many years, and in her heart she remained a legal secretary and executive assistant, even in her final days.
Jean was the widow of Jim Avery of Summerville. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Taylor of Charlotte, Joan Rittenbach, Janis Flodin, and Jennie Watson of Summerville; her sister Anne Kunath of San Antonio; and her brother, Richard Robinson of Carson City, NV. She is also survived by four grandchildren, James Taylor, Marvin Benford, III, Zachary Benford, and Abigail Benford. There are also four stepchildren, Lois Raabe, Neil Avery, Marlee Calcote, and Robin Doerner.
Services will be held in loving memory at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, presided over by Dow B. Erwin, at 1308 S. Main Street, Summerville, SC.† Flowers will be accepted and may be sent to J. Flodin, 100-A Stagecoach Lane, Summerville, SC 29483.
