Sertoma Football opens registration

 The Summerville Sertoma Club is gearing up for its 2013 youth football season.
The non-profit organization wrapped up its final youth football camp of the summer last week and has begun registering players for the new season, which is scheduled to begin Sept. 7.
Upcoming registration dates for the league are scheduled from 8 a.m. until noon Aug. 3 and 10 and from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 6, 8, 13 and 15 at the Azalea Hut (Cuthbert Building) located at 105 West Fifth Street in Summerville.
Registration dates for the Sertoma Football Upper Dorchester Program are scheduled from 6-8 p.m. July 31 and Aug. 14 at the Ridgeville gym and from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 7 and 14 at Woodland High School.
The league will have its skills day Aug.17 and its draft Aug. 18. Practice opens Aug. 19.
The league’s opening ceremony and jamboree is scheduled for Sept. 9 at Gahagan Field, located at 101 West Boundary Street in Summerville.
Each year hundreds of football players age 5 through 13 participate in the league, which is divided into four divisions based on age: Mighty Mites (age 5-6), Bantam (7-8), A-League (9-10) and B-League (11-13).
