Charleston Southern hosts South Carolina Attorney General's Domestic Violence Training program

Charleston Southern University’s Criminal Justice department will host the annual South Carolina Attorney General's Domestic Violence Training program on Wednesday, August 7, from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the conference center in the Christian Leadership Building.
According to a report from the S.C. Attorney General’s office, more than 36,000 victims annually report a domestic violence incident to law enforcement agencies around the state. Over the past 13 years, an average of 33 women have been killed each year by their intimate partner. Domestic violence has become a crisis in the Palmetto State.
More than 130 judges, attorneys, prosecutors, victims' advocates and police officers from across the state are expected to attend. The program agenda is as follows:
• 9 – 10 a.m. | Shannon Boling | Law Enforcement Response and Investigation
• 10 – 10:45 a.m. | Sabrina Gast and Marlena Clary | Domestic Violence and Criminal Sexual Conduct wounds
• 11 – 11:45 a.m. | Kelly Hall | Human Trafficking
• 1 – 2:30 p.m. | Kelly Hall | Effective Testimony
• 2:45 – 3:15 p.m. | Kelly Hall | Ethics
• 3:15 – 4:15 p.m. | Candice Lively | Children of Domestic Violence and the Court
The Office of the Attorney General aims to educate all who work with domestic violence, sexual assault and criminal sexual conduct cases on the latest issues, techniques and laws regarding Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Criminal Sexual Conduct. Wednesday’s training session is open to the public, but the training is designed for those who work in the criminal justice system. All trainings are approved for CLE, JCLE, CLEE, OVSEC, and Nonsocial Work Hours.
