A Summerville man has been charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct, 3rd Degree, for the alleged rape of his ex-wife.
The victim called the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office to report that she had been raped.
Deputies responded to the residence of her ex-husband where the victim was waiting for them near the door to the residence, according to the incident report which states she told police that she had recently moved back in with her ex-husband in an attempt to make things work.
She reported he had thrown her on the ground and sexually assaulted her.
She told police he had started using “crack” cocaine two days prior and had been using it almost constantly since. When he returned to the residence after having obtained more “crack” she said she got upset and told him she didn’t want to be around it anymore. She told him to leave.
She said he grabbed her and threw her on the ground. She told police she started screaming and banging on the walls hoping someone would hear her. She begged him to get off her but he ripped off her underwear and forced her telling her “…I am going to take what I want from you.”
She told authorities that after hitting him in the head repeatedly he let her up. She told him she was going to the store and left the residence to call police.
When deputies arrived she was visibly shaking, according to the report. She told deputies there was “crack” on the TV and that she had shut the water off to the toilet so he couldn’t flush anything when they arrived.
The husband came to the door, saw the deputies and slammed and locked the door.
The victim, using her key to the residence, let deputies in.
The suspect told police he had no idea why they were there as nothing had happened.
The victim told police she was afraid of the suspect and feared for her life. She showed police the ripped underwear.
Police discovered broken glass, a black smudge and some blood on the toilet. After the victim requested they search for anything illegal, they discovered a broken “crack” pipe hidden in a closet that was consistent with the glass and black residue found in the bathroom. The suspect had a small cut on his hand that was also consistent.
The ex-husband was taken into custody and remanded to St. George where he was booked and a hold placed for service of the warrant.
