Cross Country club
The Thunderbolts Youth Cross Country Club is hosting a free three-day clinic for youth age 5-17 on Aug. 20-22 from 7-8 p.m. at the Newington Elementary playgrounds. More information about the youth program will be presented at the clinic.
Thunder baseball
The Low Country Thunder 12U baseball team based in Summerville is looking for players to complete their roster.  Tryouts are scheduled for Aug. 18 at 3 p.m. at Ridge Baptist Church field, located off of Highway 17A.  The team anticipates playing five tournaments this fall season. For additional questions/directions, etc…  contact John Church at 452-8525 /johnc@synterresource.com or Marvin Sturdivant at 568-7441/ msturdivant@sc.rr.com.
Fall ball
Summerville Little League has opened registration for its fall season. Onsite Registration will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Boundary Street ball fields. On-line registration is also available through Aug. 19 at http://www.summervillelittleleague.org.
Coastal Center Cup
The Parents and Guardians Association of the Coastal Center, an all volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit established in 1982, will host its second annual Coastal Center Cup Golf Tournament at the Westcott Plantation Golf Club on Sept. 28. Tee time is 9 a.m. The registrtion fee is $75 per player or $300 per foursome and includes green fee, cart fee, bag valet, cart signs, scorecards, scoreboards and a Lowcountry shrimp boil immediately following the tournament.  Contact Richard at 312-4222 or rsgreg@homesc.com for more information.
Sports physicals
MEDcare Urgent Care has launched its 2013 Sports Physical Challenge, which will run through Aug. 31. Both MEDcare locations (8720 Dorchester Road, North Charleston and 1850 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard, Charleston) will offer students a sports physical for only $20 and $5 will be donated back to each school per sports physical to participating schools as designated by the student or parent. The school with the most sports physicals performed at MEDcare during this promotional period will receive an additional $500 donation.Both clinics are open every day from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Cathedral Camps
Cathedral Sports is offering a variety of summer camps where kids can learn about and participate in numerous activities. Cathedral of Praise will host basketball, soccer, karate and dance camps in July. Cost for each camp is $65 per camper and includes a camp T-shirt.
