Summerville D.R.E.A.M. (Downtown Restoration Enhancement and Management), JoAnn Fabric and Crafts Store and downtown merchants invite you beat the heat by coming downtown this Thursday, August 15th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Give a shelter dog the perfect reason to celebrate the dog days of summer by giving them a furever home. Frances R. Willis SPCA and Lowcountry Animal rescue will be bringing available dogs out to Hutchinson Square on Third Thursday, says D.R.E.A.M. Interim Executive Director, Jan Hursey.
Visit West Richardson and listen to the St. Paul Children's band. They will be performing behind Guerin's. In front of PPQ will be ever popular Charleston Hotshots. Hutchinson Square, at 6:30 p.m. will be the spot for the unveiling of the second bird in the Summerville B.I.R.D.S. project by the Mayor. B.I.R.D.S. (Birds in Residence Downtown Summerville) is a collaborative effort by Sculpture in the South, the National Audubon Society and DREAM to install sculptures of birds naturally found in Summerville around the downtown area.
The Art Walk returns to Short Central, showcasing local arts and crafts vendors. Ulyana Machneva, an accomplished Guitarist, will be entertaining stroller and shoppers on Short Central. DREAM members from outside the downtown area will have booths on Hutchinson Square and Lowcountry Muscle Car Club will be hosting classic cars on Little Main. As always the downtown businesses and restaurants will be offering special deals and special meals.
Summerville DREAM sponsors the monthly celebration to create a lively community atmosphere and promote local businesses. The public is invited to come and spend the evening in downtown Summerville.
