County moves forward with drainage study

  • Thursday, August 15, 2013

Dorchester County Council gave final approval to conduct the proposed drainage study within a specific section of Pine Hill Acres at their meeting Monday.
In order to conduct the study on drainage and storm water, all construction within the designated area will be halted for the study period.
According to Planning and Zoning Manager Alec Brebner, the five-month pause in building is necessary to ensure the results of the study are as accurate as possible.
Debbie Ainscough, a resident of Pine Hill Acres, expressed her support for the study at the meeting.
“Suspension of development is definitely needed. [County Public Works Director] Matt Halter knows more than any of us and if he thinks we should do it then we think so too,” she said on behalf of herself and her neighbors.
The Dorchester County department of Planning and Zoning first proposed the study to the council at its June 17 meeting.
