Students claim they were assaulted at ARHS
According to a police incident report, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office deputies met with two student complainants – a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old – who reported that the ARHS football team equipment manager had assaulted them in Ashley Ridge High School.
The boys told police that on August 20, while getting ready for a football scrimmage, one of the victims went to his assigned locker in the locker room and noticed that his school football jersey was missing from inside the locker. He said he began looking for his jersey when the other victim noticed his was gone as well. They told police they tried to locate the coach but no one was in the locker room.
However, they heard a voice from inside the equipment room and recognized the equipment manager’s voice. They say they knocked on the door and that when the door was opened they asked to speak with the equipment manager who then came to the door. When they told him about the missing jerseys the manager became irate, they said and began throwing equipment around and kicking equipment, using profane language. The manager struck one of the boys with his foot as he tried to kick a piece of equipment.
The boys were hit with equipment the manager was throwing around.
The boys told police they later located the jerseys and got dressed and reported to the football field. They said they later reported the incident to the head coach who, the boys said, told them he would conduct an internal investigation with the school administrators.
Subsequently, both boys were terminated from the football team and suspended from school.
