Two die in Wednesday crashes
Rachel McBryde Kam-Johnson, 21, of Summerville, was killed Wednesday, around 5:10 p.m., when, according to Lance Corporal Jud Jones, SCHP, she ran off the left side of eastbound I-26, near exit 182, then went back across, ran off the right side of the road and crashed into some trees.
She was a Clemson student, according to SCHP, and was driving a 2007 Hyundai and wearing a seatbelt.
Highway Patrol is investigating.
In another fatal crash Wednesday, James Bernard Hancock, 58, of St. George, died in a motorcycle crash 200 yards from his home.
According to Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet, the cause of death is a closed head injury, cervical fracture, and multiple facial fractures. The coroner says speed was a factor in the crash.
Hancock was not wearing a helmet.
SCHP say Hancock was driving a2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he ran off the right side of the road and crashed into a ditch drainage pipe.
