Happy Tails 5K art contest underway
Attention artists: Looking for a new venue for your work?
The Frances R. Willis SPCA and Animal Shelter is looking for just the right t-shirt design for the first ever Happy Tails 5K and Dog Mile Fun Run, planned for Dec. 14 in Summerville. The event, a 5K road race for both two and four footed participants, is a new fund/awareness raiser for the FWSPCA and should be a lot of fun for the whole family, including four legged family members.
But the first order of business is to choose a design for the participant t-shirts, says FWSPCA Andy Shepherd.
“All you artists out there, here is a great opportunity to get your talent into the public eye,” Shepherd said. “And you’ll be really giving a helping hand to a truly worthy cause – the welfare of homeless, abused, and neglected animals in Dorchester County.”
Criteria for entries are as follows: The design should support the theme of “Happy Tails 5K and Dog Mile Fun Run;” it should be inclusive of both dogs and cats; use a maximum of three colors (keeps the cost down); and all entries should be submitted on a 12” x 12” format.
Entries may be submitted in person at the Frances R. Willis SPCA and Animal Shelter, 136 Four Paws Lane, Summerville, or they can be mailed to 108 Sugar Mill Court, Summerville, SC 29485.
Make sure to include your name, email address, and phone number.
The winning artist will have his or her name and any other information they wish published on the FWSPCA website and in the newsletter. The artist will also receive a free race entry and t-shirt. The top three runners up will have their artwork displayed at the SPCA and on race day.
The SPCA is also still seeking major sponsors for the race. Major sponsorships are available at the $100, $300 and $500 levels. Contact Kym Wallace at 843 991 8036 if you are interested in being a sponsor. Visit www.summervillespca.org or call 871-3820 for more information.
