Vice Chairman of Dorchester County Sales Tax Transportation Authority Mark Pilgrim delivered a progress report to the county council on Tuesday night regarding road construction in Dorchester County.
Pilgrim announced that the improvements at Dorchester Road and the intersection of US-78 and SC-22 (Old Orangeburg Road) will be completed by Nov.30.
The resurfacing of phases two and three on US-78 will be finished by May of 2014.
Improvements at the intersection of US-78 and Deming Way will be completed by the end of the year.
Construction on Bacons Bridge Road will be done in September 2015.
In June 2004 22 road construction projects were selected by the County Citizens Committee. The factors that went into the decisions were: relieving congestion, improving safety, economic development, paving roads for rural residents, and maintenance resurfacing.

The solicitor’s office will be relocated from Summerville to Dorchester County office’s annex in St. George.New space will be created at 235 Deming Way for elections and registration.$25,000 will be allocated from the economic development fund for certification of the Winding Woods industrial site with half of the cost being reimbursed by the SC Power Team.An ordinance amending the current architect/engineering and land surveying services procedures through a committee was unanimously approved.
