Lady Panthers win at The Ponds

Pinewood Prep, Summerville and Fort Dorchester all had runners with strong finishes during the 2013 Ponds Invitational Cross Country Meet.
Hosted by Pinewood Saturday, the annual meet featured more than 80 male and 80 female runners representing 15 high schools.
Pinewood claimed first place in the varsity girls’ division with a 60-point finish. Stratford tallied 67 points to claim runner up honors and Bishop England finished in third place with 74 points. Rounding out the Top 10 were Summerville (80 points), Ashley Hall (127), Academic Magnet, Woodland (208), Fort Dorchester (215), Cane Bay (250) and Conway (264).
Pinewood’s Maryah Nasir won the girls’ race with a 19-minute, 14.55 second finish. Stratford’s Alexandra Zimmer (19:41.86 and Bethany Reeves (19:54.20) claimed second and third place and Summerville’s Abby Bozarth (20:06.14) placed fourth.
Pinewood’s Isabelle Greenstreet, Katie Black, Megan Kuhn and Emily Shuler, Summerville’s Anya Bunao and Renee Bourgeois and Fort Dorchester’s Autumn Stone also finished among the Top 20 runners.
Stratford won the varsity boys’ race with a 51-point tally. Academic Magnet finished with 61 points to claim runner-up honors and Fort Dorchester finished with 91 points to place third. Rounding out the Top 10 were Bishop England (120), Pinewood (120), Beaufort (138), Summerville (145), Conway (269) Woodland (273) and Cane Bay (281).
Bishop England’s Cristian Widenhouse won the race with a 16:39.86 finish. Academic Magnet’s Hayden DiBona placed second with a 16:50.68 time and Beaufort’s Brandon Pratt placed third with a 16:56.30 time. Pinewood’s Mason Hazel and Jin Kim, Fort Dorchester’s Koh Matsumoto, Jesse Torterella, Thomas Pittman and Alexander Armstrong, and Summerville’s Justin Lodge also finished among the Top 20 runners.
