Angelo Prospero of Summerville was among the Korean War era veterans recognized by U.S. Sen. Tim Scott on July 27. The gathering marked the 60th anniversary of the signing of the 1953 armistice agreement with the United States, the People’s Republic of China, North Korea, and South Korea, ending the three-year war between North and South Korea in a truce.
Over 500 veterans and their families filled the North Charleston Convention Center to hear Sen. Scott thank the veterans of the “forgotten war” for their selfless sacrifice to our country.
On display were the weapons, jeeps, maps, uniforms and other memorabilia of the conflict.
Prospero and the other veterans received a pen and a certificate of special Congressional recognition from Sen. Scott.
