The Restaurant Association has selected Meals on Wheels of Summerville to be this year’s charity benefactor. They prepare and deliver hot mid-day meals to 155 people each weekday, and its volunteers provide vital social contact to the recipients. They receive no government funding. Meals on Wheels will receive a portion of mug sales and representatives will be present to explain their mission in the Greater Summerville area.
Last year’s event was a great success and mugs sold out quickly. If you would like to help please contact association president Dustin (Summerville.restaurants@gmail.com).  See you downtown for Third Thursday!

Sweet Tea Festival planned for Third Thursday

  • Tuesday, September 17, 2013

Mackenzie Quinones and Claudia Salazar of Single Smile Café serve tastings at last year’s Sweet Tea Festival held during Third Thursday in Downtown Summerville. Small tastings were made available from local restaurants as a part of the Summerville Restaurant Association's first event, a newly formed association of Summerville DREAM. The Summerville Restaurant Association will present the Second Annual Sweet Tea Festival in conjunction with DREAM’s Third Thursday September 19th from 5-8PM. There will be 8 local restaurants featuring tea related specials and competing for the title of Best Sweet Tea in Summerville. A ballot will be included with the purchase of a new commemorative mug. In addition to the restaurants, Ice Age, a local ice sculptor, will compete with a surprise tea entry chilled by his special ice. The Charleston Tea Plantation will be represented and Pluff Mud T-shirts will have tea related merchandise for sale.
