Summerville Police and Fire Departments are holding a special car seat event Saturday as part of the nationwide National Seat Check Saturday.
Certified car seat technicians will be on hand Saturday, Septemeber 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at every Summerville Fire station.
Parents can have their car steats inspected, can learn how to choose the right car seats and how to install them correctly.
Patrolman First Class and Traffic Safety Officer R.J. Blajszczak says “there’s always danger on the road and the best way to protect your child is to have the right seat for the child’s age and size. All parents want their children safe and this event will give them that peace of mind.”
Blajszczak noted that vehicle crashes are still the leading killer of children ages 1 to 13. In 2011, 36 percent of the children in thatage group killed in motor vehicle crashes were not restrained at all.
