The Pinewood Swim Team traveled to Hilton Head on Saturday for the Hilton Head Christian Invitational.
The Pinewood 200-yard Medley Relay team of Samantha Hilleshiem, Laura Lai, Emily Pelcher and Katie Smoak placed eighth. Smoak also had an eighth-place finish in the 50 Freestyle and Pelcher placed eighth in the 100 Butterfly with a personal best time of 1:15.81.
The Lady Panther 200 Freestyle Relay team of Matti Easterday, Anna Rook, Pelcher and Smoak finished in sixth place. Hilleshiem had a season best time in the 100 Backstroke to place seventh. In the final event of the girls' competition, Hilleshiem, Rook, Elizabeth Soyka and Easterday swam to a sixth-place finish in the 400 Freestyle Relay.
The girls placed eighth out of 13 participating teams.
The Pinewood boy’s had a strong start with Sam Danielson, Nathan Greenslit, Michael Saeger and Ray Mennetti finishing in sixth place in the 200 Medley Relay. Sixth-grader Noah Boykin had a personal best swim in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:40.45. Mennetti placed eighth in the 200 Individual Medley.
The boys took over the 100 Butterfly with Saeger placing fourth, Krish Patel placing sixth with a personal best time, and Jared Snell placing ninth also with a personal best time. Freshman Nathan Greenslit finished in eighth place in the 100 Freestyle.
Pinewood also had a strong showing in the 500 Freestyle. Saeger placed fifth, Mennetti placed eighth, and Connor Campbell placed10th.
The team of Mennetti, Louis Easterday, Patel and Saeger swam to a sixth-place finish in the 200 Freestyle Relay. Easterday also had a fourth-place finish in the 100 Backstroke. Finally, the team of Greenslit, Campbell, Easterday and Patel placed fifth in the 400 Freestyle Relay.
Overall, the boys placed fourth out of 12 teams.
The Panthers will host the Pinewood Invitational this weekend at the Mount Pleasant Recreation Center.
