Fire parade, safety carnival Monday

Summerville and Old Fort Fire Departments and Lowe’s join forces for the annual Fire Department Equipment Parade and Safety Display.

On Monday, October 7, at 6 p.m., the parade kicks off near Summerville Medical Center, travels down Midland Pkwy., to Trolley, then down Trolley to South Main Street, down South and North Main streets to Lowe’s, 1207 N. Main Street in Summerville.

Equipment and personnel from area fire departments and DCEMS will take part. It is a loud and festive parade with full lights and sirens.

At Lowe’s, following the parade, will be free hot dogs, numerous safety vendors, more than 30 fire trucks, a child safety seat checkpoint, games and much more.

The event begins at 4 and ends at 8 p.m.

The annual event marks national Fire Prevention week.
