Volunteers came together last week at the Holiday Inn Express in Summerville for the Greater Summerville/Dorchester County Chamber of Commerce’s Membership Event. In just two and half days, over 150 new Chamber members were recruited. Participants worked against the clock and against each other to sign up new members and create a greater community awareness of the important role of the Chamber.

The event was organized by Jimmy Cusano and a group called Your Chamber Connection. Their specialty is high energy membership campaigns that allow volunteers to conduct ‘out of the box’ membership fun while building the membership base.

The top seller for this year’s event went to Con Chellis with the Chellis Agency, Allstate – the black team. Top individual sales and top team sales went to Buck Inabinet with the Taylor Agency Insurance – the navy blue team. Top group sales also went to Con Chellis’ team. The runners group and Captain Nancyjean Nettles with Audubon Center at Francis Beidler Forest also received recognition for playing such a vital role in delivering packets to all new Chamber members that were recruited during the event.

“This event not only helped grow our Chamber even stronger, but also brought the community together to increase the awareness as to what the Chamber does each and every day to build a strong pro-business environment for our local area, region and state,” said President and CEO of the Summerville Chamber Rita Berry. “We could not have done this without all of our generous volunteers and sponsors and a big thank you goes out to each and every one of them,” she added.

This year’s Membership Event sponsors were Bob’s Viddles, Dorchester Shrine Club, Firewater Grille and the Holiday Inn Express in Summerville. For more information on the Chamber or to become a member, please call 843-873-2931 or visit www.greatersummerville.org.
