Swimmers have strong performances at state meet

Dorchester Two swimmers turned in Top 10 performances during the Class AAAA state championships last weekend.

Swimmers from across the state competed at the University of South Carolina Natatorium in Columbia. Riverside won the girls’ meet with 478.50 points and the boys’ meet with 433 points.

The Ashley Ridge girls had the best performance among the District Two teams, tallying 91 points to place 12th. The Summerville girls finished with 79 points to place 13th and the Fort Dorchester girls finished with 21 points to place 21st.

During the boys’ meet, Ashley Ridge placed 15th with 114 points, Fort Dorchester placed 16th with 97 points and Summerville placed 19th with 59 points.

Jeremiah Bohon earned a lot of points for the Swamp Foxes, placing second in the 200-meter IM with a 1:54.36 time, third in the 100 Breast Stroke with a 58.35 time and fifth in the 200 Free Style with a 1:31.66 time. He also teamed up with Dalton Delp, Tyler Wolter and Austin Saracina to help the AR Boys 200 Free Relay Team to a fifth-place finish.

Delp also placed ninth in the 100 Free with a 50.39 time.

For the Lady Swamp Foxes, Micah Bohon placed second in the 100 Back Stroke with a 55.18 time and third in the 200 Individual Medley with a 2:04.26 time. She also teamed up with Anna Blake, Alex Seale and Ansley Jones to help the AR Girls 200 Medley Relay Team place 10th.

The Fort Dorchester Boys 200 Medley Relay Team of Ben Stauffer, Ballard DeHaven, Noah Brazier and Lucas Grieger placed ninth.

Summerville’s Jackson Seith placed 10th in the Boys 100 Breast with a 1:01.19 time and teamed up with Mathew O’Malley, Hayden Guyer and Tyler Pratt to help the Green Wave Boys 200 Free Relay team to a 10th place finish.

Meredith Welsh placed sixth in the Girls 100 Breast with a 1:07.67 time and helped the Summerville Girls 200 Free Relay Team to a 10th place finish. Other members of that relay team were Sarah Anne Welsh, Caroline Edwards and Rachel Mitchell.
