Preservation Society to meet
On Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m., a panel including former member of Summerville Town Council Sue Sanders, Medway Plantation Manager Robert Horton, and MUSC Facilities Engineer Chip Martin will discuss the LeGendre family at the regular meeting of the Summerville preservation Society. All have interesting stories to tell, says Heyward Hutson, president of the group.
The LeGendres, who came to Summerville from Louisiana, owned and operated a chain of movie theaters including the Summerville Theater which was adorned with the mounted heads of animals the LeGendres hunted on safaris in Africa. Hortman will bring a couple of the animal heads to the meeting. Meetings are open to the public and are held at Old Town Hall, 201 W. Carolina Ave.
