The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office has charged 46-year-old Rusty Norris with manufacturing and possession of methamphetamine.

When Dorchester County Patrol Units responded to 1007 Miles Road to serve an Order of Detention on a female that resides at the residence they could smell an overwhelming chemical odor coming from the residence.

The female was located at the residence and taken into custody and transported to the hospital for evaluation. Norris was removed from the residence and Metro Narcotics was notified and responded.

Due to the odor and items that were located, a search warrant was obtained and the house was searched.

The Detectives located numerous items consistent with manufacturing methamphetamine in the red phosphorus and “one pot” method.

Hazmat crews, DCEMS and Old Fort Fire Department also responded to the incident.
