Best Friend of Charleston visits Summerville

The Best Friend of Charleston, the first American-built locomotive, arrived in Summerville for one final visit on Monday. The original locomotive was built in 1828 and only ran for six months before it exploded in a boiler accident. The replica that visited the town was built in 1928 from the original Best Friend plans to celebrate its 100th anniversary.
