  • Thursday, November 7, 2013

Anthony Pinckney, 25, of Goose Creek was crossing College Park Road near the intersection of Crowfield Boulevard when he was struck by a van at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 30, according to officials.

Pinckney was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to a statement released by Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.

His death was ruled accidental, according to Salisbury.

S.C. Highway Patrol Cpl. Bob Beres said the 30-year-old driver of the 2003 GMC van was wearing a seatbelt and transported to a local hospital.

The pedestrian was wearing dark colored clothing, Beres said. The van was traveling in left lane eastbound when it struck the pedestrian in the roadway.

The investigation continues.
