Provided Summerville Sertoma Football A-League Redskins team mom Erin Grantham presents a check to Chase After a Cure representative Amy Hungerford.

The Summerville Sertoma Football A-League Redskins have added cancer to their list of opponents.

Players and cheerleaders from the youth football team raised $500 for Chase After a Cure, an organization founded in 2009 by Summerville resident Whitney Ringler and her family after her son, Chase, was given a 30 percent chance of survival after being diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma. Chase survived this aggressive form of cancer and now his family works tirelessly on behalf of childhood cancer research.

Chase After a Cure supports families of childhood cancer patients, raises awareness about childhood cancer, specifically neuroblastoma, and funds childhood cancer research at the Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital.

After a recent A-League Redskins game, players, cheerleaders, coaches and parents from the team presented a check to Chase After a Cure representative Amy Hungerford.
